Mission - Community Profile
Mission was founded in 1892. Mission is a rapidly growing and dynamic center with a population of just over 35,000. A community rich in history, Mission has evolved into a modern community with all the amenities of urban life while being surrounded by incredible natural beauty.
Originally it was two separate incorporations, the District Municipality of Mission and the smaller Town of Mission City; these were amalgamated in 1969.
Mission was the site of Canada's first train robbery and was B.C.'s first rail link to the United States. It is also home to the oldest known First Nations' archeological site in British Columbia.
